The Guggenheim Museum, also known as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, is a modern art museum located in New York City. It was founded by the American businessman and philanthropist Solomon R. Guggenheim in 1939, and is home to a collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and early Modernist art. The museum is housed in a distinctive cylindrical building designed by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright, which is considered an architectural masterpiece in its own right. The Guggenheim is known for its spiral ramp, which allows visitors to view the artworks on display in a continuous flowing sequence, rather than in the traditional linear fashion. The museum's collection includes works by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Paul Klee, and Pablo Picasso, and it has also played host to numerous temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.
